Public will still use dump at Bellozanne
Wednesday 25th February 2009, 2:57PM GMT.
THE public will still use Bellozanne to dump rubbish even when the new £100 million incinerator at La Collette is up and running, the States were told yesterday.
Transport and Technical Services Minister Mike Jackson said that only commercial and parish vehicles would be allowed to deliver to the new energy-from-waste plant.
In response to a question from Deputy Sean Power, Mr Jackson said that mixed loads of reusable or recyclable household waste would continue to be delivered to Bellozanne.
He said it was not best practice on safety grounds for commercial vehicles and private cars to use the same site. He added that the new energy-from-waste plant would have an unmanned weighbridge and that all vehicles which delivered materials to it for incineration would have to be registered to do so.
Members of the public will continue to use the area at Bellozanne to dump household rubbish

Is it me or are the states very quickly running this island into the ground? Something surely has to be done about all this!

So….we’re going to stuff up another area of the Island with waste, smell and traffic – but not actually change the existing area of the Island already stuffed with waste, smell and traffic.
What better reason to put the new incinerator where the existing one is and keep it all in one place?
99% of those living near Bellozanne moved in after the incinerator – not nice but cheaper houses like living near the airport. St. Clement is a different matter.
Sorry to all those developers who bought land at Bellozanne for that quick buck when it’s rubbish free…

So all domestic waste from the memebers of the public is going to be delivered to Bellozanne.
I presume that it will then have to be loaded into a proper waste carrying vehicle for its trip to La Colette.
That should help keep the numbers up at TTS, with a bit of luck they may even squeeze a few more on to the payroll!

oh look, yet another half witted motion that has been carried by the half witted establishment that is half way to the grave. i seriously believe the islands 6th forms could do a better job in running the island.
they’re smarter and have more sense, not to mention a realistic view of island life! i say that because as i said 2 years ago that we should just replace the current incinerator with a new one in bellozane, and simply export waste to france for a few months. is this not a more cost effective way to do it??
i think the senators must have a sweep stake on which one can spend the most money in the most absurd manner on the most obscene projects. why do we eve ned energy from waste, we get clean electricity from france!!!!!
the half wit responsible for this one must be leading the stakes now.
a peasants revolt is in order i feel!!!!!!
