£112 to book a Flybe flight

Thursday 26th February 2009, 2:58PM GMT.

From Anthony Le Poidevin.
I WAS interested to read a letter from Bill O’Brien in Friday’s JEP on Flybe and their avaricious baggage charges.

I went online last week to book two singles with Flybe from Geneva to Jersey. The fare quoted was £105 per passenger — which I thought reasonable — so I went to the next page to make a booking. I was amazed to find, though, that I would have to pay a ‘booking fee’ of £112.

It appears, note, that I was not paying for airport charges or taxes, but presumably for someone to sit at a computer and punch in my details. We must be thankful for competition.

Although BA may be a bit more expensive they are well worth the extra money – and if you’re a bit skint why not fly to east middlands with bmibaby? A train ticket doesn’t cost much if you book it online either.
