I too am deeply in love with my gas-guzzler

IN reply to Arthur Caree’s letter in Saturday’s JEP, I also love my gas-guzzler and would not stop driving it because there are anti-4×4 people moaning again.

When will this hatred of 4x4s stop? It’s getting old and boring. I drive a 1966 Land-Rover, and yes, it gets thirsty, and I spend a lot on petrol. But I feel so much safer in it due to its strong build and ruggedness.

Those who drive people-carriers are worse than those who drive 4x4s. I followed one of them the other day through town and it was clear to me that the driver couldn’t drive it. So if you can’t drive it, don’t buy it!

Next time I see a car stuck in the mud or sand and they need a tug, I’ll ask them what they’re opinion on 4x4s are.
