Same deal, different words

From Patrick Cooper.
WHEN I lived in the UK I used to work for a major supermarket chain, so I have a better knowledge than most of the ways in which product promotions are used to entice and encourage customers to shop in stores. I have also become pretty aware of value for money.

So, having recently done some shopping in the Co-op, I noticed a Safeway promotional leaflet in the JEP and was interested to see what sort of offers they might have in store.

I immediately noticed that products I had just purchased as a ‘buy one, get one free’ deal in the Co-op were also advertised as a half-price deal at Safeway.

Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise that ‘buy one, get one free’ and a half-price promotion are effectively the same deal.

    Patrick,

not sure what you are getting at but to get “one free” you normally have to buy one at full price, but half price means you can get one at 50% off. As with any offer you need to read the small print.
