An auction of football and rugby memorabilia has been organised by the father of De La Salle pupil Calvin Hayock to raise funds for the Clic Sargent charity. The youngster has already stayed at its Clic Haven home, close to Southampton Hospital, free of charge while attending the hospital for chemotherapy.

He and his family members will be making regular trips to Southampton in the months ahead as the course of treatment continues. And because of the generosity shown by the charities, builder Robert Haycock has arranged a fund-raising night at the Town House pub in New Street on Saturday that will include a silent auction.

Anyone who wants to bid for any of the items, which also include a signed Celtic shirt, can either attend on the night or phone Mr Haycock up until midday on Saturday on 07797 729458. He said that he would accept bids by text message until 8 pm on Saturday.
