Island football hit hard
Monday 2nd March 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
CIMANDIS are to end their support of the Muratti and the Coca-Cola Jersey Football Combination at the end of this season.
The double blow is a big financial loss to the biggest game on the football’s calendar while the same company’s support of the under-18 inter-insular fixture is also to end, one year early, at the end of this season. Jersey Football Association president Ricky Weir said: ‘Any loss of sponsorship is a tremendous disappointment because it is the lifeblood of grassroots football.
‘We thank Cimandis for their support and we fully understand their position in the current financial climate. The Muratti is a Blue Ribbon event and life will go on.
‘There are never guarantees that sponsorships will continue and we always hope that the contracts continue but eventually they all end at one time or another.’
