Nuclear cargo ready to load

Wednesday 4th March 2009, 2:58PM GMT.

mono-00111654_cropped.jpgGREENPEACE militants protested in Cherbourg last night at the imminent departure of what is believed to be the largest ever consignment of high-level nuclear fuel ever to be transported anywhere in the world.

The fuel consignment, in the form of MOX (mixed oxides) contains 1.8 tonnes of plutonium and large amounts of uranium — double the amount of the previous largest nuclear cargo.

It will be loaded on to two British nuclear transport vessels, the Pacific Pintail and the Pacific Heron, when they arrive from Cumbria at the French port later this week.

The MOX fuel is to be transported to Japan and will pass north of the Channel Islands before the end of the week.

It doesn’t matter its only the Channel Islands no one takes any notice of them anyway.

Grumpy Beggar whats wrong with you? Radiation is good for you so I’ve been told. Its also good for night fishing as it means you can see the fish coming.

On a serious note I’m sure the States would stop anything that they knew could damage our health wouldn’t they?
