Veterans to the fore

BAD weather may have hampered the selection of Jersey’s Island Games sailing team, but following the final races of trials at St Catherine on Saturday the team is now in place.
Three well known Island sailors, Martin Speller, Jeff Speller and David Carter will be joined in the team by David Putt who has only recently moved to the Island. Martin Speller secured his place in the team with a clean sheet of wins in Saturday’s standard class races, and Jeff Speller secured second place overall with 2nd, 4th and 2nd finishes.
In the latest races of the radial class, David Carter once again triumphed with 1st, 4th and 1st place finishes, and David Putt came second overall scoring 4th, 1st and 7th.
