A DOCTOR working at the General Hospital has been arrested and escorted to the UK to face charges of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs.
The 41-year-old Irishman was arrested in St Helier at 7 am on Wednesday as a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Metropolitan Police in London and the States of Jersey police force.
He was arrested on suspicion of fraud, false accounting and obtaining prescription drugs by deception and is currently still in custody in the UK.
A Hospital spokesman would this morning only confirm that a doctor who worked for Health and Social Services in the mental health area had been arrested.
