Volleyballers seek place in record books

JERSEY’S men’s volleyball team will be looking to make history tomorrow when they take on favourites Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the National Shield.
No non-league team has ever reached the final of the Shield, and Jersey’s HLB Jackson Fox team will be without a full squad going into the away draw at Middlesbrough against a team coined a ‘super-volleyball club’.
The Middlesbrough Volleyball Club, who are currently second in Volleyball England’s National League Division II, was formed from the amalgamation of the three best northeast sides and can potentially call on a squad of over 70 players.
Jersey, by contrast, have been plagued by injuries and unavailability and have had only eight players to select from and little time to practice together.
