Roaring start to motocross season
Thursday 12th March 2009, 2:59PM GMT.
THE E McGarragle Ltd motocross season got off to a spectacular start at Sorel Point, St John, at the weekend.
Racing was fast and furious throughout and in the two featured events the Autos, ridden by the youngest competitors, and the 65 cc class, the next class up and the first to use manual gearboxes, two competitors dominated. James Kennedy won all three races in fine style in the Autos although Adam Godwin kept him on his guard with three straight seconds. Connor Gautron also displayed good form in the wet and windy conditions with two thirds.
Elliot Jackson dominated the 65 cc class with three straight firsts in difficult conditions. Jack Claydon and Jamie Howarth took the next two places respectively.
In the 85 cc class Charley Mills really turned on the style in his first season in the big wheel class to take the chequered flag in all three races. Even a fall and the loss of several pairs of goggles could not stop him.
