Chamber claims unfair treatment
Tuesday 17th March 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
A BUSINESS lobby group say they have been unfairly sidelined in a public consultation.
Jersey Chamber of Commerce members are asking Planning Minister Freddie Cohen to add their submission on the Island Plan to the feedback document on the States’ website.
They say that whereas other responses – including that of a major UK retailer – have been included in full, their views have been grouped with other submissions and their case has suffered as a consequence.
Chamber president Clive Spears (pictured) said that they had sent in a detailed response highlighting commercial, economic and planning issues. Mr Spears said that the way the responses had been grouped gave more credence to those who had sent in a general response, rather than those who, like the Chamber, had answered questions in the format requested in the consultation.
