Anger over rejected vouchers
Thursday 19th March 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
FURIOUS shoppers have accused Principles of fleecing them after the under-threat fashion store suddenly stopped accepting vouchers.
The retailer, which has branches in Halkett Street and inside Voisins, sold gift vouchers until it fell into administration early this month.
Now dozens of shoppers have been told that the vouchers are worthless after the branches received orders from administrators Deloitte to stop accepting the gift cards.
A shop worker from the Halkett Street branch confirmed that they had been confronted by ‘dozens’ of angry shoppers during the last week. She said that staff were now directing shoppers to Trading Standards and issuing them with a hotline number so that they could try to claim back some of the cash.
