Repercussions at the rota chemist
Friday 27th March 2009, 2:57PM GMT.
From David Moody.
INTERESTING story in the JEP on 25 March about a pharmacist who refused to dispense the morning-after pill as she held religious views which conflicted with the provision of contraception.
The pharmacist is of course entitled to her views, as are surgeons who refuse to perform terminations. Standing for one’s sincere beliefs, however unpopular, is admirable.
However, my serious concern is that this pharmacist is employed in the rota chemist. For a woman who has made the decision to seek emergency contraception, the rota chemist may be the only place they can obtain the medication, ie over the weekend.
This could have serious repercussions.

KIT 4 CLUBS
Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
Is standing for one’s sincere beliefs always necessarily admirable,–however mistaken, misguided or even fanatical they may be?–Fascism seems to spring to mind; would not compromise and the ability to admit one might be wrong be even more admirable?
