Shop makes a magical return
Saturday 28th March 2009, 10:00AM GMT.
THE former Poundworld store at Les Quennevais is to be reborn – as Pound Magic.
The shop, which closed earlier this month following the collapse of the Channel Islands Poundworld chain, will reopen early next week under the ownership of Jersey businessman Richard Whatmore.
Five of the former Poundworld staff will be employed at the store.
Mr Whatmore (pictured) said: ‘I think there is a demand for this type of shop, especially in today’s economic climate.
There is still work to be done on the shop, but we hope to open on Monday or Tuesday next week.
If the shop is a success I will look at opening another Pound Magic shop somewhere in St Helier.’
