Jersey make it three wins in a row in the U16 Muratti
Tuesday 31st March 2009, 1:58PM BST.
JERSEY deservedly made it three wins in a row as they defeated Guernsey 1-0 away in the under-16 Muratti at Blanche Pierre Lane on Saturday afternoon.
With the game being scrappy and mostly battled in the middle of the park, it was perhaps ironic that the only goal came from a mistake.
When a routine corner was sent into the penalty area Guernsey goalkeeper Adam Bullock dropped the ball at the feet of Jersey’s Matthew Rondel, who smashed home from close range.
Jersey coach Le Cornu said: ‘We really should have wrapped it up with some good chances in a ten-minute spell during the second half but we were either denied by the woodwork or we failed to hit the target when in good positions.’
