Knowing what’s in store

Saturday 4th April 2009, 3:00PM BST.

ROB_3275THREE generations of a family celebrated the 50th anniversary of their shop in Gorey Village this week.

Vera Hansford (85), her daughter Pat Clarke (60) and granddaughter (and Pat’s niece) Christina Bechelet (18) all raised a glass of wine to celebrate the half century since the family started running Rosedale Stores.

As far as they are aware, the building has been run as a shop since 1891. The family took on the business in 1959.

Mrs Hansford said that the loyalty of their customers had kept the shop going despite the increase in supermarkets all around them.
