Put your hand out for help

HAVING awoke this morning celebrating five years of being clean and sober, I was reflecting on how this happened to me.

Five years ago I was a hopeless, and in my eyes helpless, chronic alcoholic who believed the world would be a better place without me.

My GP, along with the Alcohol and Drug Service, arranged for my admission into Silkworth Lodge, where I stayed for 13 weeks.

There I was introduced to the 12-step programme and I was seen by a member of the alcohol and drug team during this time and received his support.

The exercise referral team at Fort Regent helped me back to physical health and it is due to all of them that I am here today living a life beyond my wildest dreams.

Jersey has the solution for addiction if you put your hand out and ask for help.
