0752157DESPITE winning more than half their matches, Jersey’s bowlers lost out to Guernsey in the inter-insular, with both the men’s and ladies’ teams being beaten on points by the experienced Sarnians.

And although Jersey were disappointed at the away result, with six new caps in the side – including 83-year-old Ken Swanton – the result ‘wasn’t all that bad’, according to team manager Tyrone Thomas (pictured).

It was also made sweeter by the fact that three Jersey players came back from the weekend with Channel Islands Championship titles under their belts, with Jersey players winning the Open Pairs, the U18 singles and the U35 singles finals.

‘Most of the new caps performed very well over the weekend,’ said Thomas, ‘and our old boy Ken did very well and was on the winning rink winning 20-18.’
