Goddard nets a bronze in the UK
Thursday 9th April 2009, 2:59PM BST.
ISLAND and St Lawrence netballer Nicole Goddard has won a bronze medal with Hartpury College in the British Colleges National Finals.
A former Jersey College for Girls student, Goddard now attends the college in Gloucester, which was the area’s representative in the competition which features colleges from across the UK competing against each other in 14 different sports at under-19 level.
Goddard, who has just turned 17, played out of position as goalkeeper throughout the two-day netball competition at Loughborough University because of changes within the team, but according to her mother Jane, the changes did not stop the young side performing extremely well.
‘They played a round-robin tournament with seven 30-minute matches throughout the weekend, so they were very tired at the end of it,’ she said, ‘but they all played really well and the top three were very close.’
