From the Arc to Les Landes
Saturday 11th April 2009, 3:00PM BST.
A HORSE which came fourth in the prestigious Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2004 will be racing in Jersey this season.
Acropolis, by Saddlers Wells, was bought for ‘peanuts’ by local trainer Joan Le Brocq in January after his former owners went bust. He is due to make his first outing at Les Landes on 25 May once he has recovered from an infection.
Originally bought by Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien for owner Michael Cable for 550,000 guineas, Acropolis won three listed and was group 1 placed, including fourth place in the Arc, before being bought by Howard Johnson for his main owner Graham Wylie for 380,000 guineas as a hurdler.
But hurdling was not to be for the feisty Acropolis who recorded two fourths and pulled up once before he was sold to a syndicate of Scottish builders who recently went bankrupt.

Good Article.
I know Joan and if anyone can give this horse a good chance for future she can, it is nice to hear Acropolis hasn’t ended up at the knackers yard where far to many good horses are ending up due to the recession.
Thanks Joan if you are reading this keep up the good work
