Mixed fortunes for Walker in Barcelona

JAMES Walker’s first round of the World Series by Renault Championship ended in disappointment this weekend when he was forced to retire from the second race.

After setting the fastest time overall in qualifying at the Barcelona track on Saturday morning, Jersey-born racing driver Walker was well placed going into both races, and finished sixth overall in the first.

But in the second race on Sunday afternoon, bent steering after making contact with another car left Walker no choice but to pull out.

But Walker is staying positive as he looks towards the next race in Belgium in two weeks.
‘It’s not the end of the world,’ he said. ‘My main rivals also had a tough weekend and the car is feeling great so we have everything to play for.’
