FORMER Tour de France and Tour of Spain rider Malcolm Elliott is race in the Rubis Jersey Town Criterium in St Helier next month.
A double gold medallist as the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Olympian Elliott has confirmed his entry along with UK race team Sports Beans, a team of eight pro riders who won one of the biggest UK professional races recently at Girvan in Scotland.
A total of 11 professional riders have now committed to the Town race which takes place from 11 am on Sunday 24 May.
Tony Moffa, one of the Jersey Cycling Association race organisers, said: ‘Getting Malcolm to race in Jersey is massive for the event. And with the Sports Beans team confirming yesterday that they are coming too the excitement is really starting to build now. Jersey rider Chris Spence told Malcolm about the race and obviously we are delighted that he has agreed to take part.’
