THE Housing Minister is being accused of jeopardising the successful implementation of a masterplan to redevelop the north of St Helier.

Members of the Town Residents’ Rejuvenation Association claim that Senator Terry Le Main is pushing ahead with building work at Salisbury Crescent without consulting those trying to agree on a coherent plan for the regeneration of the area.

The group, which says it has 20 members so far, is unhappy that other projects have been delayed until a masterplan has been drafted, yet the minister is pushing ahead with his.

Group chairman Laura Storey said: ‘Members are concerned to hear that tenders have been put out, and received back, for the construction of 35 lifetime/retirement homes at Salisbury Crescent, opposite Grand Marché, with plans for construction to commence in the autumn.’
