ST PAUL’S striker Craig Russell has recovered from an ankle injury and is in contention to win his first senior cap in the Cimandis Muratti Vase final in Guernsey on Sunday.

There were big doubts over Russell’s chances of making it last Friday when he came off injured shortly before half-time in the Island team’s friendly win the previous night against a Coca-Cola Combination Select.

While Russell has recovered fellow striker Paul Aitken continues to have treatment on an injured hamstring and the scorer of one of Jersey’s penalty shoot-out kicks in their 4-2 win last year remains just a 50/50 chance to make it.

And former Jersey captain Dave Brodie will be forced to don new boots this weekend as his regular pair were stolen from his car last weekend when it was broken into.
