Call for Sheffield steel
Thursday 30th April 2009, 3:00PM BST.
ISLAND boxer Danny Kennedy is at full fitness going into his ABA quarter-final clash in Sheffield tomorrow night.
The Leonis welterweight takes on West Ham’s Dudley O’Shaunghnessy at the English Institute of Sport for a place in Saturday’s semi-finals, and according to coach Tony Burt, Kennedy will certainly have a fight on his hands.
But, he said, Kennedy will have no problem when it comes to fitness – instead the bout will come down to tactics on the day.
Kennedy is the Western Counties Champion after winning his bout against Yeovil’s Jarel Jameson last month to get to the quarter-finals and is the only Jersey boxer left in the competition.
