A HAIR curling and straightening device invented in Jersey is about to be launched for worldwide distribution.

The Hot-Stixx hair iron is designed to be safer and more effective than products on the market.

Insurers say that nearly £2 billion has been paid out in claims relating to hair irons in recent years, with up to four million claims resulting from fire and burns caused by heated hair straighteners being left unattended.

Inventor Richard Gilmore has already obtained worldwide patents and produced a prototype which he will be presenting to potential manufacturers and distributors later this month.
