Wanderers’ youngsters find that little bit extra
Tuesday 5th May 2009, 2:54PM BST.
STRIKER Daniel Tardivel fired Jersey Wanderers FC to their first ever Portsmouth Trophy Junior Upton success with a hat-trick at the Corbet Field in Guernsey on Saturday.
The victory gave Wanderers a maximum fourth trophy this season and although they had some nervous moments they thoroughly deserved to win against plucky opponents who had striker Nigel Hutton send off in the 88th minute.
Tardivel got the benefit of a hair-line offside decision to race through and lift the ball over outrushing goalkeeper Tom Creed to level the scores on the stroke of half time.
Two minutes after the resumption his weak shot went straight under the foot of Creed to give Wanderers the lead but after North equalized again, Tardivel notched his and Wanderers’ third in extra-time to secure a 3-2 win.
