JERSEY will face Rhodes, the Isle of Wight and Saaremaa in Group C of the men’s football tournament at the Aland Island Games next month.

And if both Jersey and Guernsey win their groups they will face each other in a semi-final.

Rhodes were defeated 4-0 in the final two years ago by Gibraltar, while Jersey last played the Isle of Wight when they won the bronze medal match 3-0 in Guernsey in 2003;while they have never met Saaremaa, the island off Estonia, before.

Caretaker Jersey manager Craig Culkin said: ‘It’s an interesting draw; we know Rhodes reached the final two years ago but we know little about the Isle of Wight or Saaremaa.
‘I’m happy there are more teams this time and it looks a tough group. Unfortunately Jersey only had two group matches in Rhodes and they narrowly failed to progress after being eliminated on the goals scored rule.’
