England Test call for Allen
Thursday 7th May 2009, 2:56PM BST.
A JERSEY-born rugby coach has been called upon to help the England squad prepare for their summer internationals.
Barny Allen (27), who works as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Premiership club Gloucester, worked in the same role with England in the autumn and has been asked to return to camp in preparation for this summer’s matches.
As well as working with the team in camp, Allen will also travel with the squad around the country for various matches and to Argentina for the return leg of their summer tie against the country.
And he has now had it written into his Gloucester contract that he can work with England whenever they need him.
The son of Pat and Tim Allen, he was brought up in Jersey and played for Jersey RFC before leaving the Island for Bath University where he completed a BSc in sport and exercise science.
