Air Berlin route is an early winner
Tuesday 12th May 2009, 2:59PM BST.
GERMANY’S second-largest airline began operating in the Island this month and has already proved to be a success, with inbound flights to Jersey selling quickly.
Air Berlin’s weekly service to and from Düsseldorf has proved to be an attractive offer in the German market, with travellers taking advantage of the weak pound against the euro.
The airline’s UK and Ireland manager, Titus Johnson, said: ‘We have been really encouraged by the level of bookings so far. They have been better than expected for our first year operating in Jersey.
‘We are very pleased. There has always been demand for Jersey, but with the exchange rate, it has made the Island even more attractive for German passengers.’
