Home stars shine in Island championship

LA MOYE members dominated the opening day’s play in the HSBC Jersey Ladies’ Golf Association’s Matchplay championships yesterday at the St Brelade course.

Yesterday’s qualifiers were Medal format rounds with home Club golfers taking eight of the nine first, second and third positions in the Division I, II and III Handicap Trophy sections.

Elaine Pushman won Division I with a net score of 82 off four handicap; Liz Facchino returned a net 78 of 20 handicap to win Division II while Pat Le Breton topped the pile in Division III with a net 78 off 34 handicap.

La Moye’s stranglehold was broken in Division II where Royal Jersey’s Shelagh Herbert placed second with a net 81 off 18 handicap.
