Wednesday 13th May 2009, 2:59PM BST.
ISLAND snooker champion Gary Britton took two frames of world ranked number two Stephen Maguire at the weekend.
Having qualified from his group at the World Snooker Series final in Portimão in Portugal, Britton was eliminated from the tournament following a 5-2 defeat by Scotsman Maguire.
Britton said: ‘It was fantastic and certainly the best weekend of snooker I’ve ever been involved in.
‘I progressed from the group as runner-up after 4-2 wins against fellow amateurs from Poland and Germany. They were six-red frames and I played well with a couple of half century breaks.I also played World No 6 Ryan Day in the group too but he was in fantastic form winning 4-0 in 20 minutes.’
