Alex Mollin has retained the HSBC Jersey Ladies’ Golf Association Matchplay Trophy, beating Elaine Pushman in the final.

She finished seven up with five to play on a soggy La Moye  course.

In a repeat of last year’s Division I final, the two Island Games golfers braved the bad weather, with Mollin six up after the morning’s 18 holes.

But it was not that simple for the reigning champion, and Pushman capitalised on a bad patch from Mollin to keep the match alive well into the second turn – before Mollin regained composure to take the match.

Mollin now adds the double to the two Strokeplay championship titles she has won in the past.

‘I am feeling very relieved right now,’ she said after the match. ‘It has been a really hard competition especially because of the weather. I had a bit of a wobble around the fourth, which lasted just about nine holes, but I got over it.
