Jersey fours in semi final
Saturday 16th May 2009, 3:00PM BST.

A courageous display from Jersey’s men bowlers earned them victory over Ireland in the Atlantic fours championship in Johannesburg to clinch a place in the semi finals.
Derek Boswell, John Lowery, Terry Allen and Cyril Renouf achieved a fine 17-13 win over the Irish, who have an impressive record at world and Commonwealth level and started as favourites.
‘We are thrilled to be through to the semi finals, where we are lined up to play England,’ said Renouf. ‘That was a real team effort – we all did our bit in turn, and I think we fully deserved to win.’
The Jersey squad, together with team manager Gus McKinnon, are also delighted to have clinched their place in the next world outdoor bowls championships, which will be staged in Adelaide in 2012.
