SIX-TIME England amateur champion Martin Goodwill capped three days of superb play to win the English Billiards Open Series’ Jersey Open on Sunday.
At First Tower Institute, Goodwill’s class shone through as breaks of 158, 145 and 117 took him to at 541 points to 257 win against fellow England cueist Matthew Sutton in the 90-minute final.
Goodwill’s second EBOS victory of the season – he also won in Austria – came on a day when he notched his highest ever break of 429 and in the same match, his semi-final, he also compiled a break of 281 to defeat England’s Rob Hall by the massive margin of 842 points to 45.
Goodwill was certainly the man to watch over the weekend as he scored 11 of the 25 century breaks recorded.
Goodwill said: ‘It’s been a fantastic three days; I’ve scored the best break of my life and to score a 281 in the same match was extremely pleasing. It’s my second EBOS title of the season; I’m delighted to have won and I’ll definitely be back to defend the title next year.’
