RED tape on the sale of tobacco and alcohol, coupled with the economic downturn, will be high on the agenda of the new president of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce.

Ray Shead was elected earlier this month at the Chamber’s annual general meeting. He takes over from Clive Spears, who has held the post for the past two years.

Other changes to the Jersey committee include David Warr, the chairman of the small business group, who steps up as vice-president, and former president Kevin Keen who is chairing the retail and supply committee.

Previous vice-president Mr Shead has for several years chaired the retail and supply committee and acted as a spokesman for the industry on plans to introduce a third major supermarket into Jersey.
