Travel insurance for visitors
Tuesday 26th May 2009, 3:00PM BST.
NEW travel insurance for UK holidaymakers coming to Jersey has been set up by Jersey Tourism in the light of the end to the reciprocal health agreement with the UK.
The agreement ended in April, which means that UK visitors to the Island now have to pay for medical treatment should they fall ill or suffer a significant injury.
In response to this change, Jersey Tourism has collaborated with insurers Rossborough and PJ Hayman to provide a suitable policy for visitors.
‘It is intended to make sure we don’t lose potential Jersey visitors because of the ending of the reciprocal health agreement,’ said Jersey Tourism director David de Carteret. ‘Putting this policy in place means everyone can get medical cover that they need in order to ensure Jersey remains as attractive as ever.’

Yes, what about the locals? And who is paying for this?

Why “screw the locals”, Mogit?
The grockles will pay through the nose for something they may or – statistcally more likely – will not need.
Result: more money going to the insurers who have spotted a gap in the insurance market.

Who is paying for this? The people who want to take out travel insurance. Was’nt hard was it?

They cannot be serious!
Don’t they realise that most travellers from the mainland will probably have annual policies anyway.
Probably if they shop around as I do they will be paying less for worldwide cover than whatever this fantastic deal is likely to cost to cover a short break (which is about as long as most will afford/endure.
This little wheeze wasn’t by any chance planned right from the beginning of the new arrangement – was it?
