Town Criterium: Veterans, women and juniors
Tuesday 26th May 2009, 2:56PM BST.
The race incorporating veterans, women and junior cyclists in Sunday’s inaugural Rubis Jersey Town Criterium was halted after a crash on the Broad Street corner.
Junior Rhys Lewis was taken to hopsital for a check up after coming off his bike, but was discharged later without having suffered serious injury.
The eventual winners in each of the categories were Dick Turpin (veterans), Kim Ashton (women) and Steven Hayley (juniors). Steven was also second overall.
A one-lap time trial for juniors, held later, resulted in a dead heat for top place with both Sam Carney and Karl Laugeard finishing in 2 min 36 sec.
Results will be published in the Jersey Evening Post later this week.
