Dingle sweeps to top
Wednesday 27th May 2009, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEYMAN Bruce Dingle has opened up a commanding lead in SM Cup Championship after an excellent weekend of action on his Supermoto Championship bike.
Dingle and Micky Bertram took part in the third round of the 2009 Proppa British Supermoto Championship at Lydden Hill in Kent on Saturday and the following day it was round four at the Lydd International raceway.
Round three started following heavy overnight rain which made for a very slippery off road section during qualifying.
In the Aprilia SXV class, Dingle qualified on pole position. Dingle turned in a faultless display to win all three races. Dingle again found himself in pole position in the SM Cup while Bertram was in sixth position on the grid. Dingle stormed to a further two wins and he was robbed of a possible third as a result of a broken chain but he still managed to take third place on the podium.
Bertram rode consistently to claim two fourth positions and a seventh earning him fourth place overall on the day. At the end of the day it was all systems go to pack up and move to the Lydd International Raceway for Sunday’s racing where round four was to take place.
Qualifying was hit and miss with the weather raining one minute and sunshine the next. Dingle took pole in the Aprilia SXV class and went on to repeat his performance of Saturday to have a clean sheet of first places.
In the SM Cup, Dingle once again qualified at the front on pole with Bertram in 15th. Dingle again performed admirably winning all three races to give him a commanding lead in the championship.
Bertram had an excellent day too and he is now in fifth position overall in the SM Cup Championship after taking fifth, 11th and sixth places respectively. Dingle is supported by Condor Ferries and Education Sport & Culture.
