JERSEY junior surfer Nathan Elms reached the final of the Saltrock Open at Croyde over the weekend, winning all of his heats to reach his first ever UK Pro Tour final.

He started the final well, catching a long walling right-hander, but as the other competitors notched up high scoring waves Elms ran out of time and was pushed into fourth spot overall.

Elms was part of a five-man squad from Jersey who competed at the event including Chantelle Coote, Bradley Ferguson, Matt Chapman and Freddie Seymour.

Seymour reached the semi-final of the U16s and Chapman managed to knock-out Pro Junior favourites Lyndon Wake and Seb Smart in Round 1 of the Pro Junior Division.

Ferguson meanwhile had an unfortunate match-up with Seymour in the quarter final stages of the U16s, along with eventual finalist Beau Bromham, and even with a clear strategy to block the UK competitors, Ferguson was 0.1 out of a semi-final spot. Coote took third spot in the first round of the U16 girls.
