Horton to coach Island youngsters
Friday 29th May 2009, 2:58PM BST.
PROLIFIC European Senior Tour winning golfer Tommy Horton will pass on his experience to the Island’s youngsters later this month.
The Jersey resident, who has won 23 Senior Tour titles and five Order of Merits, will host a Junior Golf Clinic prior to the Jersey Seniors Classic which takes place at La Moye Golf Club from 12-14 June.
At the clinic on Thursday 11 June, for youngsters from La Moye and St Peter’s primary schools who are not attached to a club, he will be joined by two European Senior professionals as part of the Jersey Economic Development’s programme to help develop junior golf in the Island.
Wayne Osmand, head professional at Les Mielles who is heading up the Tri-Golf Campaign – a recently launched initiative to introduce golf to the Island’s primary school children – said that hopefully the presence of Horton will help stir up interest for the sport among the youngsters.
