The devil is in the lack of detail

From Deputy Roy Le Hérissier.
IN his weekly column (JEP, 26 May) Ben Quérée says that the economic stimulus package went through the States ‘with barely a whimper of resistance’.
Wrong. There was no trouble with the principle. There was, however, enormous unease with the lack of detail.
Senator Ozouf talked constantly of ‘shovel ready’ projects, forgetting that much of the unemployment is likely to come from the finance sector.
The Senator seemed to be envisaging an Island of happy shovel-carrying people marching to work every morning.
It also seemed the case that rather than focus on public sector projects that have been forgotten or marginalised, but which could be of enormous immediate or longer term benefit, like Fort Regent, many of the projects will simply be existing projects that will be speeded up, eg, housing refurbishment.
Also, there were no clear ideas presented on what was the precise nature of the retraining that will be offered to people. As they say in Texas: Big hat, no cattle.

Happy people marching to work? From where I’m standing people have had enough. Most I know can’t wait to be retired, they have had enough of work it isn’t all its cracked up to be. Too much stress, silly hours, inconsiderate bosses, wages going south every year, everything going through the roof, and on top of this a government that hasn’t got a clue how to do anything properly in my honest opinion.
I think it is more accurate to take the middle word out of your following comment:-
no clear idea.
