JERSEY thrower Shadine Duquemin took double gold at the South of England U15 and U17 Championships held last weekend in Kent.

The Jersey Spartan athlete retained her U15 shot putt title that she gained in 2008 with a 11.29 throw and later added the U15 discus title with a throw of 36.23 – over four metres further than the second placed thrower.

Also performing well at the competition in Asford, in which six JSAC athletes took part, was Danielle Leerson who recorded a new club record in the U15 girls’ 800m with a 2.18.34 to come second in her heat and gain a fastest loser place in the final.

The time smashed her previous personal best by over two seconds but was not enough to beat the tough competition and she placed a creditable fifth in the final.
