Country show draws the crowds in Trinity

DSC_9308A SCALED-DOWN country show proved to be a roaring success in Trinity this weekend.

Hundreds of Islanders went to the Royal Jersey Showground on Saturday and Sunday and enjoyed all the usual events, including dog obedience displays, Irish dancing and the classic cattle show.

RJAHS chief executive James Godfrey said that it was a great success. ‘We didn’t promote it as much as in the past but, bearing that in mind, it went very well,’ he said. ‘It all went as planned and there was good interest in the dog shows and the Irish dancing. A real hit for the second year was the Circus Whizz. There was plenty for the kids to do and it was all free.’

The show was slightly smaller than usual because the RJAHS is waiting on a planning application to upgrade the showground. Mr Godfrey said that the uneven surface led them to scale down the programme.  The cattle show was the first event on both Saturday and Sunday and prizes were given out on Sunday afternoon.
