Thursday 4th June 2009, 3:00PM BST.
POLICE fear that more than 70 children have been inappropriately contacted over the internet by a former school teacher.
The computers belonging to 70 children are being analysed by forensic investigators for information about the alleged offender.
They are appealing to anyone with information about the inquiry to contact the investigation team.
A police press statement released yesterday said: ‘The investigation team have received reports from more than 70 local schoolchildren that they have received inappropriate internet contact during 2008 and the early part of 2009.
‘The police are continuing their inquiries to establish the identity of the sender of these messages. The investigation is likely to continue for some time.’
