THE Jersey Seniors Classic being held next weekend at La Moye Golf Club will feature the strongest field of players in the competition’s 14-year history.

Former Ryder Cup captains Sam Torrance and Ian Woosnam headline the famous golfing field and last year’s surprise winner Tony Johnstone will be back to defend his title.

Also featuring at the event, which is one of the longest running on the European Senior Tour and has a prize fund of £140,000, are other famous faces from the European circuit including Gordon J Brand who won back-to-back Senior Tour events in 2008 and had five other top ten finishes to take second place in the Order of Merit.

He will be joined by Peter Mitchell who made his debut in Jersey last year and won three times in 2008 to finish third in the Order of Merit, as well as 20-times winner on the Senior Tour, Carl Mason – who is known for having earned the most money in the history of the Tour, and Ireland’s Des Smyth.

Jersey’s record Senior Tour title winner, Tommy Horton, will also return to the tournament as will illustrious Italian Ryder Cup player Costantino Rocca.
