Container ship deal cancelled
Monday 8th June 2009, 3:00PM BST.
FREIGHT company Huelin-Renouf has pulled out of a deal to buy a new 85-metre container ship being built in Germany.
The new bespoke vessel was supposed to have been delivered in late 2008 and to have gone into service at the end of last year.
However, chief executive Keith Renouard said that they had to cancel the ship due to delays in delivery.
Asked how much ditching the order at this stage had cost the company, he said: ‘I am unable to answer that question.’
But he gave an assurance that it will be business as usual and the shipping company will continue its operations with charter vessel Coastal Wave for the foreseeable future.
