Francis Le Gresley: Next year could be tough

THE Citizens Advice Bureau is facing a possible funding crisis as the recession threatens to reduce its three sources of income.

The organisation, which has recently boosted its services to cope with the soaring number of debt-related inquiries, fears that 2010 could see a decline in funding unless the economic climate improves.

The CAB receives the majority of its funding from the States, with smaller amounts coming from charitable donations and interest on its bank account.

But with the Council of Ministers threatening to reduce overall expenditure, Islanders donating less because of the recession and bank interests at an all-time low, the organisation fears that income during 2010 could take a significant hit.

May be the money injection for tourism would have been better spent here, a worth while service.

CAB will probably be helping the states out of their mistakes shortly!

Perhaps our states members should take a pay cut to help the CAB?

The ONLY organisation that is available to try and help with personal financial problems and the States want to cut their grants – sounds about right !!!

It is said “don’t judge people by what they say,but by what they do, many lofty speeches by lying politico’s do not actually help people, many projects that claim to help end up hindering because as is always demonstrated they simply don’t care or have an ounce of social conscience…yet money will be found of their selfish indulgent lifestyles..makes me puke..

While I believe CAB are a wonderful instertution and assist many . Maybe some of the people going there for advice could begin to live within their means and prevent running up the credit cards. The States should be assisting however the public could assist themselves at the same time
