Torrance forced out
Tuesday 9th June 2009, 2:59PM BST.
SAM TORRANCE has been forced to pull out of the Jersey Seniors Classic due to the recurrence of a long standing hand injury.
The 2002 Ryder Cup captain and winner of the Jersey Seniors Classic in 2005 has been plagued by the injury for the past couple of seasons but seemed to be recovering having won the Barbados Open in March.
However, tournament director Nick Addecott, this morning confirmed that Torrance had withdrawn and said: ‘He hurt his wrist on Friday in Ireland and unfortunately won’t be making it to Jersey.
‘Having him here would have been great but we’ve still got a very strong field with the likes of Costantino Rocca and last year’s winner Tony Johnstone.’
